Isabel Marant

31 Aug

I don’t follow designers very much. I am interested in clothes and the people who make them but I couldn’t look at a piece and tell you whether it was Prada or YSL. I was going through my daily Google Reader blog routine and I came across an Isabel Marant post and I loved it. If I had the $$$, I would buy it all. For now, I will just admire and post on the Ratmobile. Isabel Marant site here.

Sister

I know it’s not cool to like Dave Matthews Band past high school. But I will always like him and his music whether I understand what he’s muttering between songs or not. I’m not even going to call it a guilty pleasure. I love the music.  He played this song on Saturday when we saw him at Shoreline. It was my friend’s 52nd time seeing him. Wowza. I think it was my favorite song of the night. It’s called “Sister.” It’s about his younger sister. His older sister Ann was murdered by her husband in 1994. Dave and his younger sister brought up her two children after her death.

My favorite look from the Emmys was Lauren Graham in a Yigal Azrouel gown. Some people hated it but I liked it.

There’s a new Crybaby in town. Thanks to Shaun for sending me this gem. I’m glad to learn that my boy Leo also has a penchant for the tears. My favorite is the 4th one down on the far right.

Tavi Addendum

I didn’t really expect her voice to sound like that. It makes me like her more. Below the wonder tween discusses “The Unpredictability of Gen Y.”

Wonder Tween

So I was initially annoyed by this 14-year-old fashion blogger prodigy/industry darling when I read her blog (she started her blog in 2008 at age 11, her parents had no idea). “Initially, her parents did not completely know what Tavi was doing until she asked for their permission to appear in an issue of New York Times magazine story,” according to her Wikipedia.  So anyways, she had annoyed me by writing some pretentious, overly self-important bit in her contact info about press using her photos without asking and how she was only 13, etc. I understood her point but I thought she was a little too big for her britches. After watching the following footage of her Black Book styling gig (the model is the daughter of Real Housewives of New Jersey’s resident lunatic Danielle), I found her endearing. I still think she’s a hip 55 year old trapped in the body of a 14-year-old. I also think she looks like a mini Ana Wintour in the face. I also wonder how fucked up she will be once she’s 21. Only time will tell for this mini fashion powerhouse.

“This is a REAL picture from the set…Heath Ledger was apparently a skateboarder.” Yet another reason I love him (RIP).
