The Last Picture Show

23 Dec

I randomly bought “The Last Picture Show” over Thanksgiving break because it cost $5 and I liked the cover. Turns out my mom is a big fan of the film and we watched it together last night. Things learned: Jeff Bridges was a total babe. Cybill Shepherd and Ellen Burstyn were gorgeous. Peter Bogdanovich seems like a self-riteous prickaroni (see Special Features). It’s too bad Perez Hilton wasn’t around then. Little Pete who was  then married left his wife for 21year old Cyb. After doing some research, I learned that their affair lasted 8 years and that during filming, Shepherd also hooked up with co-star Jeff Bridges, the screenwriter, and the location manager. I guess she was doing some method acting since her character Jacy was a little hussy.

If you can, see this movie. I’m normally not a fan of the older films-case in point, my failed attempt at watching “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.” I liked this one though. I watched the hour of Special Features for gawd’s sake.

bro…this is one of my favorite movies of all time. i am constantly trying to get people to see it, but can’t ever convince them, because i think people are hesitant about old movies, like you said…good work jacko…ps. doesn’t the young cybill shepard remind you of reese witherspoon, both acting & looks-wise
