One guilty pleasure…
So for those who know me or have crossed my path at perhaps a social gathering, in the lunch room, in the bathroom, on the street…I know A LOT when it comes to celebrities and all the gossip and facts about them. I try to stop myself from buying that latest issue of PEOPLE magazine with Maci from Teen Mom on the cover, but I can’t. I try boycotting PerezHilton.com because he’s an irritating ass, but I still go to his site everyday to collect more trivial information. Some people know stats about their favorite sports teams, I know recent feuds, hookups, property purchases, children’s names, birthdays, parents, hometowns about these celebs. Maybe this makes me an anthropologist in a way? Ok, that’s a stretch.
Out of all the celebrities, there is one in particular that is a big guilty pleasure of mine. It’s a guilty pleasure because she is… well…not the most talented. I have wanted for so long for her to have a breakthrough moment in her acting, singing, or twittering career. Instead, I am left with a voice-over role in rapunzel, a really shit music video for her song “I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week” (watch below if you can stomach it) and nauseatingly sweet tweets that say things like “cat+dog are engaged in a morning snuggle. peace is possible. what a great way to start the day. :)” No comment.
Regardless, I still get very excited whenever I see or read anything about her. I was way too happy when I found out about her marriage to Ryan Adams last year. I’ve felt a connection since I was around 14 and discovered that she and I share the same birthday except she was born in ’84. In conclusion, Mandy Moore (b. April 10, 1984) of Irish and Cherokee descent, married to Ryan Adams, mom was a news reporter, dad was a pilot for American Airlines…is my guilty pleasure.
